FIP Treatment, Pay attention to the Kidney and Liver!

Updated: Feb 16, 2023

Feline Infectious Peritonitis Virus (FIPV) often adversely effect vital organs. For a complete and thorough treatment of Feline Infectious Peritonitis virus (FIPV), and to reduce the chance of relapse, do not solely rely on GS-441524 to treat all FIPV related symptoms. GS is an antiviral medication that suppresses the replication of FIPV. It DOES NOT treat other ailments that often accompany with the onset of FIP infections. Therefore, treat each ailment accordingly.

The liver has the following major functions

  • Aiding digestion (especially of fats)

  • Synthesis of proteins and hormones

  • Regulating energy and protein metabolism

  • Metabolism and elimination of toxic and waste products

  • Immune regulation

A weakened liver can not metabolize GS-441524 efficiently, causing a reduction in the amount of GS-441524 absorbed by the body. Cats with weakened livers need a greater amount of GS-441524 administered than those with healthy livers. Please consult your veterinarian for liver examination If your cat's diagnosed with FIP.

Kidney regulates many essential bodily functions including regulating blood pressure and hormone production, stimulating red blood cell production through bone marrow, and removing wastes from blood. Kidney lesions are often found in cats with FIP. A common sign is an enlarged kidney. We recommend completing an ultrasound test of the kidney if your cat is diagnosed with FIP.

All complications need to be treated with corresponding drugs while your cat is on GS-441524 treatment. Treat all diseases in a timely manner. GS-441524 can be administered along with other medications.
