BASMI FIP™ provides two treatment options, subcutaneous injections and oral capsules. Both options require a daily dose throughout the treatment period.
For INJECTIONS, please follow the dosage below. We offer a FREE online dosage calculator to help you calculate the appropriate dosage for your cat.
Wet FIP: 6mg/kg of body weight Dry FIP: 8mg/kg of body weight Ocular FIP: 10mg/kg of body weight Neurological FIP: 10mg/kg of body weight
The recommended dosages above are used as a starting dosage. Increase the dosage should your cat respond with little or no improvement after a week of injections.
The second treatment option is our easy to administer and painless daily oral capsules. This option is much more favoured by cat owners, but recommended with caution veterinarians. The reason is that while the oral capsules can be given at home and without the struggles of injection, the effect is harder to control to due to bioavailability, a fancy word for absorption rate. Therefore, we only recommend using the oral capsule after 30 days of injections or when your cat is again eating and pooping normally. FIPV often adversely effect the digestive system. You should only use oral FIP treatment when the digestive system is functioning normally.
The oral capsule dosage are much simpler to follow. Given once a day as follows:
Cats less than 2.5kg = 1 pink capsules per day
Cats between 2.5-5kg = 1 green capsules per day
Cats greater than 5kg = 1 blue capsules per day
There are 4 factors that have the greatest impact your cat's feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) treatment success rate.
Use GS-441524, an effective antiviral medicine, to treat your cat's FIP infection.
Treat other ailments while your cat is being treated for FIP
Treat FIP as soon as it is diagnosed. [Read: Delays cause avoidable deathes.]
Use sufficient dosage. Correct dosages can be the difference between life and death, between relapse and no relapse.
We have written extensively on GS-441524 and its effectiveness treating FIP in cats. (You may read those articles here.) GS is currently the only clinically proven treatment against the FIP virus. You cat may experience a number of physical aliments as result of the FIP infection. Treat these complications along with FIP for a more complete recovery. Here is the BAD news. A timely FIP diagnoses is often out of our control. The non-effusive DRY form of FIP is particularly difficult to diagnose during the early stages of infection. Veterinarians have to complete numerous extensive and expensive tests to narrow the possibilities down to a FIP infection, something most vets and cat owners are reluctant to do when the cat still looks relatively healthy. No definitive FIP tests are available today. All too often cats with FIP are correctly diagnosed during the final stages of the infection. At BASMI FIP™, we are working to create an affordable and definitive test for future generations of veterinarians. Here is the GOOD news. While there is little we can do to improve the timeliness of an accurate FIP diagnose, there is a lot we can do to increase the success rate of FIP treatments by adhering to the recommended dosage below. Our dosage table was created after analysing treatment results from +7000 cats, and exchanging treatment observations with veterinarians across 4 continents. When sufficient dosage is given daily, FIP viral replication slows and eventually stops. Your cat's body will slowly recover. With injection treatment, you will see obvious signs of healing within 3-5 days, such as relaxed breathing, increased appetite and physical activities, more responsive to owners voices and touches, clearing up of cloudy eyes. Here are videos of cats that have successful recovered from feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) using our FIP treatment. If your cat experience a regression of symptoms during the GS treatment or a relapse after the completion of GS treatment, the root cause is insufficient dosage given to the cat during the treatment. You should continue the treatment, but increase the dosage by 2mg/kg for injections and use the higher weight class of GS oral capsules. As always, contact us if you have questions regarding your cat's FIP treatment. Our experts will happily share their knowledge and experience with you. Published by : basmifipturkey.com
